NSW: Car chase ends on Sydney rail line
SYDNEY, Feb 1 AAP - A man in a stolen car has led police on a chase through Sydney's
east which ended when the driver crashed through a metal fence and landed on rail lines.
Officers spotted the stolen Jaguar sedan at 11.40pm (AEDT) last night driving south
along Botany Road, Botany, police said.
Police gave chase along several local roads to Banksia Street.
At the end of the street the Jaguar hit an embankment then crashed through a metal
security fence and landed heavily on a freight train line.
Police immediately arrested the 41-year-old man at the wheel, who sustained minor cuts.
He was charged with taking and driving a conveyance, reckless driving and driving with
an expired licence.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Waverley Local Court later today.
