FAST CARS THE ULTIMATE TEEN POWER TRIP.(MAIN)

Without warning, the car careered off the entrance road to Columbia High School and veered up a grassy slope, following tire tracks from vehicles that had spun there before.

Rick Cramer, 17, calmly sat behind the wheel of the four-door white 1988 Chevy Corsica mommobile, a mischievous smile on his lips. In the back seat, three of his buddies howled with delight.

``Let's do it!'' yelled one. ``Go high, dude, go high,'' urged another.

The afternoon ride that ensued down twisty, bumpy, two-lane rural roads in East Greenbush sped along with the kind of thrill found on a roller coaster. The sound of the Stone Temple Pilots blared on the radio, wafted over the heads of the car's passengers like smoke, then disappeared out the open window.

Catching air on a hump on New Road. Zinging around Dead Man's Curve in East Greenbush. Laughing at 15 mph speed limit signs.

``Me and my friend took this one at 30,'' said Cramer, guiding his car around a sharp turn on one of the half-dozen narrow roads in the scary, albeit exciting, 20-minute drive. ``We didn't see the other car coming. It almost killed us. Of course, I was in …
